The DB4004 is second generation digital FM Radio Modulation Analyzer, built on DEVA’s long-standing expertise in the broadcasting equipment industry. This powerful monitoring system allows easy and reliable monitoring of the quality of up to 50 FM radio stations. With its TCP/IP and GSM (optional) connectivity, the DB4004 utilizes options and controls never seen before.
All measurements are refreshed simultaneously and synchronously due to the DB4004’s great processing power, thereby allowing detailed readings of all the multiplex FM signal components. The signal digitizing takes place at the input, processing the signal through DSP algorithms. Thus equipment measurement reproducibility over time is guaranteed. The powerful accuracy of the digital filters ensures that the FM multiplex signal components will be accurately and repeatedly transferred from one device to any another. In addition to the list of all the DB4004 features, the channel measurements and logs are saved in internal device memory, accessible via the built-in FTP system.

The DB4004 is our second generation digital FM Radio Modulation Analyzer. It combines our long-term experience in FM Radio Monitoring and FM radio measurement “know how.” The RF (IF) signal is digitalized as soon as it enters the device and all signal processing is then made through DSP algorithms. The signal being digitalized in this way, at the input, the equipment acquires measurement reproducibility over time. The powerful accuracy of the digital filters used in this equipment enables the FM multiplex signal components to be accurately and repeatedly reproduced from one device to another. The incredible processing power of the device enables all measurements to be refreshed simultaneously and synchronously, thereby allowing for detailed readings of all the Multiplex FM signal components. The DB4004 has an easy to read, high-resolution OLED graphical display and ultra-bright bargraph LED 60 segment indicators that allow reading the main signal parameters at a glance. The built-in DB4004 Oscilloscope represents the observed signal change, over time and helps you visualize the most important signals participating in the process of demodulating and stereo decoding. Complimenting the Oscilloscope mode, the Spectrum analyzer mode allows spectral analysis of the input signal and some of DB4004 features likewise. Spectral components of the selected signal are determined on the basis of Fast Fourier Transform. MPX Power and all other level measurements are supported by measurement history data. In addition to the list of DB4004 features, RDS information contained in the processed MPX signal is easily visualized and represented as RDS/RBDS Data and detailed RDS/RBDS Statistics.
Dependable off-air monitoring enables you to keep an eye on other stations in the market as well as measuring the important parameters of your own signal. Adjustable Alarms enable alerting for most of the important signal components and parameters to be generated and fed to the Rear Panel Alarm Terminal for remote alarm notification. The DB4004 is designed to support USB and LAN communication interfaces, allowing flexibility of the remote connection and control of the unit. The DB4004 is the most cost-effective way for regular monitoring of the quality and continuity of your station and up to 50 other FM Radio Stations, with many innovative features such as TCP/IP connectivity, audio streaming, and automatic alerts for operation outside of predefined ITU-R ranges. In case of transmission failure, maintenance staff will be immediately alerted via E-mail, SNMP, or SMS which signal the technicians to restore the normal service as soon as possible. This tool instantly enhances the quality control management of radio stations. The DB4004 allows you to monitor all RDS/RBDS and other signal parameters from everywhere via its communication channels TCP/IP, and allows GSM Connectivity via the optional external GSM Modem. Easy channel status monitoring or audio listening from everywhere could be done through your mobile phone. With the Audio Stream Server you can even listen to, skim through, and record the audio from another station.
All the channel measurements and logs are saved on internal device memory. The built-in FTP system manages the files by an assigned schedule. All the collected information is centralized in a database and can be revised, played back, and sent automatically to the qualified staff if need be. The Interactive Software-based Log Viewer tool allows very detailed control and analysis of any station from the list of the monitored channels. The Band Analyzer function of the DB4004 presents an overview of all FM signals available, plus the RF signal strength of these stations. Scans are possible within any section of the band in the FM band in 3 different modes. The generated spectrum diagram shows the RF Level vs. the Frequency. Scheduled Band Scans can also be enabled for RF intruder or pirate transmissions detection. How can I lock the front panel keyboard?
To prevent unauthorized local access, the unit offers password protected keyboard locking. By default the keyboard is unprotected. To enable this function, using the front panel navigational menu, go to Settings > Security > Front Panel, then press OK and ENABLE the Access Control function. Set the preferred 4 digit password and access timeout.
Once the keyboard lock function is enabled, every attempt to use it will require a password: ENTER PASSWORD:0***. Access will be denied upon false entry. -
How to unlock the front panel keyboard? I have forgotten the password / I have enabled the function unintentionally.
If the “Keyboard unlock” function has been activated by mistake, try to unlock it using the default password 01234. In order to deactivate the code protection, once the front panel menu is unlocked follow the menu path Menu > Settings > Security > Front Panel > Access control and then select Disable.
If you do not manage to unlock the front panel with the default password, nevertheless whether it has been changed intentionally or not, the unit should be returned to its factory defaults in order for the password security to be disabled. -

I have forgotten my password for the WEB Interface. What should I do?
The WEB Interface password could be viewed/changed via the front panel navigational menu. The menu path is Menu > Settings > Security > Remote Access.

My Logger/PI Campaign is not running. What might be the problem?
When the campaign settings are applied, you will have to specify not only the PI/CALL or Frequency, but also the Acquisition time / Campaign's start time delay. In order for a Campaign to be commenced, the device should be inactive for the specified time. It is very important, during the campaign the front panel navigational menu, WEB interface or SNMP not to be used; otherwise the campaign will not be properly performed.
Prior to the set-up procedure, you will have to note that the campaigns (PI and Logger) cannot be performed simultaneously. The PI campaign is with higher priority, thus in order for a Logger mode campaign to be performed you will have to make sure that the PI Campaign is disabled. -
How can I switch between %/KHz (RDS/RBDS Mode)?
The mode could be changed via the front panel menu and via the WEB Interface.
The menu path when the WEB Interface is used is : Settings > Tuner > section “ RDS/RBDS Mode”.
The menu path when the change is made via the front panel menu is: Settings > Tuner > RDS Mode. -
I cannot receive E-mails from the monitoring equipment. How can I configure the E-mail client?
The unit should be configured according to the e-mail provider’s specifications. Otherwise, messages to your e-mail account will not be received. The configuration is made through the WEB Interface, Settings > Comm > E-mail section.
Enter the desired alarm recipients in e-mail 1 and/or e-mail 2 fields. Fill in your e-mail account settings: Sender, Username and Password, Server, SMTP port and connection type. You can also change the host name if necessary or otherwise leave it as it is.
We recommend you to use the ‘Test’ button and generate a test e-mail, which upon success will be delivered to the specified E-mail 1 and/or E-mail 2.

Note that the “Network” section should also be correctly configured, most importantly the “DNS” parameter if you want to use server names (ex: “smtp.yourdomain.com”). -
I cannot receive SMS from the monitoring equipment. How can I configure the GSM modem?
First, you will have to make sure that the GSM modem is properly connected to the device.
Then enter the device via the WEB Interface and go to Settings > Comm > GSM Modem section. Check the baud rate, as it is mandatory for the proper operation of the GSM Modem. You will also have to make sure that the PIN security of the used SIM card is disabled.
If the above conditions are fulfilled you could proceed with the next step. Up to four numbers for SMS alarm notifications could be set. We recommend a test SMS to be generated (via pressing the ‘Test’ button), once all needed settings are applied. Upon success, the SMS will be delivered to all specified GSM numbers.

The current condition of the GSM Modem could be checked in the “Status Screen”. -
I do not hear the audio from the ‘Listen’ button of the WEB Interface.
Please verify that your speakers/headphones are connected and the audio is not muted. Also, there is some buffering performed by the web browser before the audio starts. This process may take about 20 seconds or more for some browsers. Another important condition is that the connection bandwidth should be high enough; otherwise the audio will skip or become choppy.
